“I need to worship because without it I can forget that I have a big God beside me and live in fear. I need to worship because without it I can forget his calling and begin to live in a spirit of self-preoccupation. I need to worship because without it I lose a sense of wonder and gratitude and plod through life with blinders on. I need worship because my natural tendency is toward self-reliance and stubborn independence.” -John Ortberg
Greetings church family,
The Corona epidemic has caused us to rethink what it means to gather as a church. We are blessed that today we have computers, internet, and social media to use during this time. There are many people and church bodies doing what we are striving to do in live streaming our services. We were already moving in this direction, albeit quite a bit slower. However, the epidemic has caused us to think outside the box and move forward with our plans as best as possible for now.
WUMC will soon have a new website provider and our goal is to live stream our services each Sunday directly to our website. While our services remain just online, I pray that you stay in His word and listen for His still, small voice. Be well.
Peace and blessings,
Dr. Chris McBride, Worship and Technology Team Leader
Starting this weekend, you will have access to the bulletin and songs via our webpage. We are hoping to upload the PDF documents to the sermon webpage so that you can print or view the documents for church on Sunday. Go to the church website to find the documents.
How can I prepare my home space for worship?
  • If you have a smart TV, move the service to the big screen and sing away. Who’s going to judge… you’re at home!
  • Light a candle and be ready for the Holy Spirit to show up (God isn’t just in the church building)
  • Create a “watch party” on Facebook and invite friends who don’t have a church or a church that is doing a live stream. www.facebook.com/westwoodunitedmethodist
  • Be fully present. There will be a temptation to do other things. Treat it as if you are in church… but you get to have coffee and snacks too.
